Solar power system; 78000 rupees will be provided by the central government to install

The Union Cabinet has approved a Rs 75,000 crore scheme aimed at installing rooftop solar power systems in one crore homes across the country. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The scheme, known as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijili Yojana, aims to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to one crore families. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said in a press conference explaining the decisions of the Cabinet meeting that each family will get a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000.

This scheme aims to boost renewable energy and promote energy efficiency in the country. With the installation of rooftop solar power systems, families will have access to clean and renewable energy, reducing their dependence on conventional power sources.

The scheme will be implemented through the departments of renewable energy and new and renewable energy, and it will be implemented in partnership with state governments, public sector undertakings, and private sector entities.

The subsidy will be provided through a bank transfer mechanism, ensuring that it reaches the beneficiaries directly. This is expected to create employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector and stimulate economic growth.
