Central Government Sanctioned Rs 1,261 Crore Scheme for Subsidized Procurement of Drones by Women Self Help Groups/SHGs
The central government has announced a Rs 1,261 crore scheme for subsidized procurement of drones by women self-help groups (SHGs). This initiative aims to provide women with an opportunity to acquire drones and enhance their agricultural activities.
Under the scheme, 15,000 selected women self-help groups will be eligible to receive drones. These groups will be trained on various aspects of drone usage, including maintenance and operation. This will help empower women in rural areas and enable them to actively participate in the agricultural sector.
From 2024-25 to 2025-26, farmers will have the opportunity to earn revenue by renting out drones for agricultural purposes. This initiative aims to provide an additional source of income for farmers, enabling them to adopt modern farming practices and increase productivity.
The use of drones in agriculture offers several benefits, including reducing labor costs, optimizing pesticide application, and improving crop yields. By providing women with the opportunity to own and rent out drones, the central government aims to promote gender equality in agriculture and contribute to the economic development of rural areas.
The Rs 1,261 crore scheme is expected to have a significant impact on the agricultural sector in India. It will not only empower women but also promote sustainable agriculture practices. This innovative initiative reflects the central government’s commitment to uplifting rural communities and fostering inclusive growth.
